The memorial garden is located outside the Library and opposite the Town Hall. It was originally provided in 1975 as a memorial to the late Alderman John Baker Maudsley CBE.
There is a lovely fountain which is lit up with bright colours at night and there is also a amphitheatre-style seating area behind it backing onto York Stream.
The stone used in the fountain was imported from Yorkshire to recognise Alderman’s origins.
